Parika Warriors lost to Vergeoegen by three runs at Zeeburg in the opening round of the Barakat 20/20 tournament. Parika Warriors made 131 and limited Vergeoegen to 128-8.
Former National under-19 player Ryan Hercules smashed 10 fours in 54 and got support from Youngihister Bachan who made 25.
Shurland Wilson (3-19), Alwick Legall (2-17) and Arnold Padmore (2-12) bowled well for Vergeoegen who fell just short of their target despite 36 from Legall and 19 from Padmore. Jason Heyliger took 2-21.
At Meten-Meer-Zorg West, Meten-Meer-Zorg SC beat Zeelugt by 14 runs after making 115 all out in 14.4 overs and bowling out the opposition for 101 in 17.5 overs.
Arshad Alli hit four sixes and two fours in 47 as off-spinner Jamal Hussain took 5-14 and Deonauth Doodnauth 3-20 for Zeelught.
Omar Shakor (27) and Deonandan Maniram (19) failed to prevent their team from defeat as Atree Singh (3-23) and Arshad Alli (2-12) did the damage. And Meten-Meer-Zorg SC (B) lost to Crane wins by six runs.
David Albert (35), David Mohabi (29) and Anand Bissesar (21) batted well for Crane who made 136. Nadeem Haniff (3 – 20), Atree Singh (2 – 22) and Arshad Ally (2 – 26) bowled well for Meten-Meer-Zorg SC (B) who fell for 130 all out in 16.3 overs despite 39 from Vishal Jaigobin, 30 from Jackson Melville and 19 from Nadeem Haniff.
