A clerk attached to a local bank was yesterday placed on $140,000 bail for possession of forged currency. The accused, 22-year-old Waveney Ramsey, of 156 D’Andrade Street, made her first court appearance before the acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson.
It is alleged that Ramsey had in her possession $44,000 in forged Guyana currency notes, without authority or excuse. It is also alleged that she stole $44,000 from the Citizens Bank at which she worked as a clerk.
She pleaded not guilty.
According to her attorney, the young lady poses no flight risk, since she has lodged her passport with the police. She is expected to make her next court appearance on November 27.
