Meten-Meer-Zorg Sports Club defeated home team Leguan at Cane Field Ground by 71 runs in the third round of the A. Khan West Demerara under-19 cricket competition last Saturday.
MMZ reached 217 – 8 off 35 overs with Jackson Melville (55), Govinda Singh (52) and Courtney Taylor (50) all hitting half-centuries.
Saif Razzack (3-26) and Vishal Narine (3-21) bowled well for Leguan who were bowled out for 146 in 30.1 overs despite fighting performances from Shahad Razzack (35), Sultan Ali (30) and Miqdad Hussain (29).
Left-arm spinner Naresh Bacchus grabbed 5-18 while Ian Ivan and Avinash Sookhoo supported with two wickets each.
At MMZ West, Zeelugt whipped Lenora by 209 runs after making 252-7 in 30.1 overs and dismissing Lenora for a paltry 43 in 12 overs.
Skipper Tavindra Mangra smashed 11 fours and seven sixes in an entertaining unbeaten 118 while Vikash Ramjattan (59) supported well. Tamal Hussain (4 – 27) and Tavindra Mangra (4 –16) conspired to do the damage with the ball for the winners.
On Sunday Meten-Meer-Zorg East got a walkover from West Bank All youths at MMZ West while CI got past Parika Warriors by six wickets on Tuesday.
Parika Warriors made 82 all out in 27 overs with Michael Goberdhan making 28. Harrinarine Bissoondyal had 4-26 before Parika Warriors reached 84-4 with Vickash Dhaniram leading the way with 36. Edwin Burnette had 3-30 for Parika Warriors.
