PNCR hosts breakfast for Palms inmates

As the People’s National Congress Reform continues to commemorate Senior Citizens Month, it honoured residents of the Palms, Brickdam, and hosted them at a breakfast organised by the party’s Human Services Department, recently.
Present at the breakfast were several PNCR members, including Party Leader Robert Corbin and Member of Parliament, Basil Williams.
Mr Corbin said that he is delighted to be a part of such an exercise and that he was sure that the inmates were appreciative of the little gesture by the party.
He added that from time to time the party is privileged to sponsor such gestures for the inmates and with the Christmas season approaching, there will be lots of other such programmes.
Corbin said that this special breakfast was not only for inmates of the Palms but also for other less fortunate persons.
And as the residents were served their breakfast they were treated to soothing renditions by a steel pan group which helped maintain the Sunday morning atmosphere.
The PNCR said that the institution is expected to benefit from a donation of mattresses, cleaning supplies and other items from the Party’s Human Services Department.
And in keeping with the Senior Citizens Month activities, the party held a successful luncheon for senior citizens at the Den Amstel Community Centre, West Coast Demerara.
The PNCR Human Services Department programme was launched at the beginning of this month at Congress Place, Sophia, with the presentation of awards and hampers to long standing members of the National Congress of Women.
The PNCR is finalizing its Christmas programme which will include luncheons, visits and gifts to the indigent and the distribution of toys and gifts to needy children.
