Dear Editor,
The political opposition is gearing to move to the United Nations, International Human Rights Institutions and the Organisation of American States (OAS) among others in a quest for justice for torture victims in Guyana.
This was confirmed by leader of the People’s National Congress Reform, Robert Corbin, yesterday (29-10-08). He said that the move will be fulfilling a commitment by the party that vowed to bring to justice those army ranks guilty of torture. “This silly pretext that it was just roughing up when there have been deaths is ludicrous,” said Chairman of the Alliance for Change, Khemraj Ramjattan. “We have to carry the motion to the United Nations. We have to support the PNCR on this motion.” A message to Corbin and Ramjattan.
While you are at it will you tell the UN who said these famous words “slo fiah and mo fiah”, “make country ungovernable”, why you hailed criminal/killer ‘Blackie’ as a hero? Tell the UN body how many innocent people were tortured, killed, maimed, disfigured, robbed and raped by those criminal elements you support and you said “there are no criminals living in Buxton.”
Mr. President, once again you are urged to show the video tape you said you have with certain politicians in cahoots with criminals/killers in Buxton. This will put this baby to rest once the entire world and the Guyanese public see who are in cahoots with the criminal elements in Guyana.
This will show exactly how the PNCR made good on their threats to “make the country ungovernable.” While you are it, please ask the very UN body to look into torture by the US as well.
T. King
