– relatives hurled remarks at victims
Pandemonium broke when relatives of Jason Caesar, 25, and Cecil Wilson, 28, heard that the two were going to be remanded to the Camp Street Prisons. The duo made their first court appearance before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton, yesterday, on a charge of robbing Gerrlie Francis of a cell phone valued at $40,000 and $50,000 in cash on October 26.
It is also alleged that the two robbed Robin DeFlorimonte of a cell phone valuing $160,000 on the said day.
The two were not required to plead since the offences are indictable.
According to their attorney, the two are gainfully employed as “contractors” and they do not pose a flight risk. The lawyer added that his clients have unblemished records.
However, Police Prosecutor Desiree Fowler objected to bail on the grounds that the matter is one of seriousness.
She added that the two were caught immediately after the act was committed.
The duo was denied bail and is expected to make their next court appearance on November 12.
Upon hearing that the two were remanded, Caesar’s reputed wife, who is pregnant, collapsed and was rushed away to seek medical attention.
Other relatives who were at the court to lend support to the defendants were heard throwing remarks at both Francis and De Florimonte.
They had to be ordered by the police to leave the court compound.
