A businessman reportedly breached a court order when he drove away with a car that was seized by the courts, yesterday.
According to reports, Wasad Ali moved to Court after his tenant refused to pay $1.4M that was owed to him for renting business space at Caledonia, East Bank Demerara. After several court sessions and with the tenant, Alwin Bynoe, not showing up, the court ordered the seizure of his vehicle motor van, PJJ 2687.
Alwin Bynoe’s business occupies a building owned by Ali. Yesterday, Ali along with two police ranks and two court marshals towed the vehicle to Magistrates’ Court.
However, while the driver was removing the pick up from the tow truck, Bynoe, reportedly using a spare key, got in the car and drove away. This was around 14:00hrs.
The matter was reported to the police who are looking for the car as well as Bynoe.
Ali said that the court ruling was on September 15 and Bynoe had all the time to seek him out to talk but he did not. Legal sources said that what Bynoe did constitutes obstruction of justice and interference with officers of the court in execution of their duties.
