-police suspect suicide
Police on the Essequibo Coast are awaiting a post mortem examination to determine the cause of death of a man who they believe may have committed suicide. Reports are that, on Saturday last, the body of 47-year-old Navendra Kissoon was found in his living quarters on a farm in Hogg Island, Essequibo River.
Two days earlier, he had reportedly informed his employers that he would not have been on the job for two days. On the last day he was seen alive, he had asked one of his employers for a bottle of rum and a packet of cigarettes.
On the day he was found dead, Kaieteur News was told that someone went to call him to take his breakfast. After not getting any response, a group decided to search Kissoon’s living quarters, since the door was ajar.
The 47-year-old farmer was found lying face down on his bed with a fruit juice bottle next to him.
Investigators say the substance in the bottle appeared to be monocrotophos.
The man’s body is at the Essequibo funeral home awaiting a post mortem examination.
