Rose Hall Town Bakewell ‘B’ team created a huge upset when they crushed Sand Reef by 8 wickets as play in the New Building Society second division cricket continued in Berbice over the weekend.
Playing at the Chesney ground in a match reduced to 25 overs as a result of heavy overnight rain, RHTB bowled out Sand Reef for 67, only Rohan Budhram with 20 and Vishal Ramnauth 15 seemed competent to deal with the spin attack of RHTB.
15 year-old off spinner Mark Fernandes grabbed 4-14, 14 year-old Lloydel Lewis had the remarkable figure of 3-0 off three overs and 13 year-old leg spinner Shawn Perriera snapped up 3-3 from 4 overs.
In reply RHTB raced to 70-2 in 11.3 overs with Simon Lawson hitting 30. National under 15 opening batsman Dominic Ricky and skipper Terrence Madramootoo each supported with 15 not out when victory was achieved.
