The Guyana and Trinidad Mutual Fire and Life Insurance Group of Companies [GTM], in keeping with its policy of assisting the less fortunate, has made another financial donation.
This time, the recipient is 10-year-old Malika Hercules. Malika needs surgery for a cleft palate and cranial damage, resulting from difficulties during birth.
She has undergone six surgeries in Canada, one in 2002 and the others in 2006. So far, she has undergone five surgical procedures at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto.
The girl is the recipient of $100,000, which was handed over by one of GTM’s managers, Mr. Jerome Andrews. The presentation took place at the company’s office at Anna Regina.
Among those present were young recruits of GTM and Malika’s mother.
Malika has already received total donations of US$12,275 from local institutions and individuals, but she still needs a further US$12,475.
Malika’s mother, Corzetta Hercules, expressed gratitude for the help to the management and staff of GTM, and said that her daughter is expected to be in Toronto, Canada by November. She is scheduled to undergo her next surgery there.
