Rose Hall Town Windies Sports Bar (RHTWSB) overcame early jitters to arrest Police by 26 runs to secure a place in the finals of the Ansa Mc Al Trading / Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club ten 10 cricket tournament.
Police Sports Club won the toss and invited RHTWSB to take first strike at the Area ‘H’ ground on a wicket which was full of moisture following early morning rain.
RHTWSB found themselves in early trouble at 25-4 after 4 overs after being invited to take first strike, Renwick Batson 10, Assad Fudadin 4, Royston Crandon 3 and Khemraj Mahadeo duck, all back in the pavilion.
But coming to the rescue were Delbert Hicks who stroked 25, Michael Rengasammy 15 and Eon Hooper an unbeaten 12 all battled as RHTWSB managed 85- 9 when their overs ran out. Bowling for Police Jason Leitch picked up 3-13 and A. Sinclair 3-17.
In their turn at the crease, Police were sent packing for 59 in 10 overs, their batsmen finding no answer to the home teams bowling attack.
Top scoring for Police was Jerry Heyliger with 23. The pick of the bowlers for the winners was national pacer Esuan Crandon 3-12 supported well by former national all rounder Andre Percival 2-17, Ravi Narine 2-14 and Royston Crandon 2-7.
RHTWSB winning by 26 runs and marched into the finals courtesy of a bye in the reset round. In the second game of the day Albion defeated Bermine by 37 runs to advance to the only semifinal of the tournament.
Winning the toss and batting first, Albion scored 117-3 with Jeran Khan who survived two chances in the first over scoring 35, Doodnauth Lallbeharry 32 and Naresh Deonarine 20 not out.
Maxie De Jonge took 2-25 for Bermine who were limited to 80-9 with Jamal LaFluer hitting 30 with a six and 3 fours.
National leg spinner Davendra Bishu had figures of 3-3 off two overs and Veersammy Permaul 2-18.
Albion would now clash the winner of the Young Warriors / Port Mourant game in the semi-final.
