Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee will today seek to have the National Assembly extend commendations to the Joint Services for ‘successfully ridding Guyana of the scourge of the Rondell ‘Fine Man’ Rawlins gang of terrorists, assassins and murderers, who terrorized and assaulted Guyanese society for years.”
According to a motion that was tabled in the National Assembly, these successes of the Joint Services are a reflection of a motivated force, which has consistently been supported by the Government of Guyana in building morale and providing the necessary tools.
The motion will seek to have the House resolve to urge the Administration to extend to the Joint Services suitable tokens of appreciation; and in its overall support for the Joint Services, pay particular attention to conducting activities and programmes that are designed to foster greater public confidence and support for the men and women of the Joint Services.
According to the motion, the Joint Services have achieved high professional and technical standards, as well as capability in crime fighting, and there is demonstrable evidence of increasing levels of public confidence in the Joint Services.
Fine Man was implicated, as a result of ballistics tests, in some 47 murders in the country, and the main opposition party, the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR), had accused the Government of having a partisan approach to dealing with crime.
The ballistics results recently conducted on the weapons that were recovered from slain gunmen Jermaine ‘Skinny’ Charles and Rondell ‘Fine Man’ Rawlins revealed that the gang was responsible for the murders of 47 persons, including those who died in the massacres at Lusignan, Bartica and Lindo Creek.
