A fine allround performance by Anil Durga guided United Brothers to 41 run win over Airy Hall as the Memorex Guyana Softball League 15 overs cricket competition continued on the Essequibo Coast last Sunday.
Durga top scored with 54 and got support from Gopaul Deen 45 as United Brothers piled up 163 – 7 in 15 overs. Sean Grovesnor took 2 – 28 and Lakeram Persaud 2 – 39 for Airy Hall, who in reply were bowled for 122 in 15 overs.
Wazir Alli made 36 and Keron Edwards 32 as Durga returned with the ball to capture 2 – 18 while Deen also showed his allround ability by taking 2 – 27. In other matches, Electronics and Reliance got walk overs from Uprising and Hibernia respectively.
The competition continues on Sunday with the final preliminary round of matches. Cullen will take on Young Warriors at Reliance, while Die Hard tackle Electronics and Reliance will stay at home to Young Guns. (Zaheer Mohamed)
