Private Marvin Slowe of the Guyana Defence Force Information Technology Department has received a citation for his honesty and integrity after he recovered and returned to the GDF, the M35 Browning Pistol which had been issued to the late Captain Ancel Semple.
Slowe was in the vicinity of the accident which occurred last week on Aubrey Barker Street, South Ruimveldt in which Captain Semple died.
In a release, the army stated that Private Slowe was among several persons who sought to render assistance to Captain Semple after his motorbike was clipped from behind by a yet unidentified vehicle, causing him to lose control and plunge head on into the path of an oncoming vehicle. Private Slowe recovered and secured the pistol which had pitched a short distance from the body of the slain Officer.
“He immediately returned to Base Camp Ayanganna and promptly handed over the weapon to the relevant authority.”
