Last Friday night the softball match between Ganesh Parts and Everest, which was played under floodlights at the Everest Cricket Ground, ended with both scores level.
The match which was build as the first trial match for selection of players taking part in the Florida Cup in February 2009 in the USA, saw Everest batting first after winning the toss making 158 for 9 in their allotted 25 overs.
Denis Mangru batted through the innings making 43 not out, Troy Gonsalves 31 and Steve Narine 17 being the main contributors. Ricky Deonarain bowling for Ganesh Parts took 4 for 20 and Mike Singh 2 for 48.
Ganesh Parts then replied and found runs very difficult to come due to good bowling and fielding from Everest.
They were 59 for 5 in the 13 overs when Ricky Deonarain, who made 79, came to the crease and took his team to the brink of victory. He was run out last ball attempting to run a double to win the game.
Other useful contribution came from Kamal Seebaran and Mark Harold who made 17 each. Vicky Sooknanan took 2 for 41 and Rahaman Khan, who was nearly unplayable, took 2 for 14.
Both captains and the sponsor Roopnauth Persaud were unanimous in their decision to replay the game on November 7.
