Campaigning in the same Group 4 category as his brother Mark, Canada-based Paul Vieira speaking with Kaieteur Sport via telephone from his home said that even though he is confident of doing well, there are about 4-5 drivers who can take the chequered flag come November 2.
The younger of the two, Paul, who is expected in on Saturday after an 11-year absence from local racing disclosed that he has been racing competitively in Canada for the past three years and apart from having to set the car to suit the South Dakota Circuit, felt that a few practice sessions is all he needs to get adjusted to the local surface.
The speedster opined that the races will be very competitive and to single out a particular category is proving to be very difficult. Paul will be driving a Mazda RX7 car.
Touching on the chances of his brother, Paul said with the recent acquisition of the Mazda RX8 which is more superior to the old one, he expects him to do well. “I really feel he has an excellent chance of doing well.”
Among the other drivers anticipated to provide stiff opposition to the brothers is Guyanese Andrew King and Kevin Jeffrey, while Jamaicans David Summerbell and Doug Gore and Barbadians Stuart and Mark Maloney.
