Lalbachan, Correia both advance to next roundJoshua Lalbachan and Alan Correia both advanced to the next round in the 14 and under division as play in the 2008 Le Meridien Pegasus Open Tennis Tournament continued, at the Hotel’s Hardcourts.
Lalbachan, who hails from Berbice, disposed of Stanley Ming 9-4, while Correia crushed Lennox Glen 9-0.
In other results in the same division: Samuel Glasgow beat Ralph Singh 9-1 and Adrian Kanto defeated Brian Ramsudh 9-3.
In the 12 and under Boys category, Dominic Fraser cruised past L. Glen 9-1; A. Correia beat Benedict Singh 9-3.
Shauna Gentle and Aruna Ramrattan won easily from Tanta Niamatali and Sancia Timmers 9-0 respectively.
In Boys 18 and under action, Deion Blackmore won in straight sets from Jason Glasgow 6-1, 6-3; Rajesh Ramrattan beat Orin Stephney 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) and Saveion David Longe routed Khalid Gobin 6-0, 6-0.
In Men’s Singles play, Denswick Northe beat Adeleke Cummings 6-4, 6-2; Leroy Chapman lost to Saveion David Longe 0-6, 1-6; Heink Wilkinson got a walkover from Jason Andrews; Oswin Coggins defeated Delon Pyle 6-1, 6-2.
Phillip Squires and Godfrey Lowden were not required to break a sweat in the Men’s Open Doubles Division after benefiting from a walkover offered by A. Correia / Shaquille Munroe.
Ladies Open Singles saw Berbician Nina Carruba beat Tracy Azeez 6-0, 6-0, while in Men’s 55 and over Doubles Omar and David Persaud easily dismissed the pair of Dennis Greaves and Desmond Niles 6-1, 6-1.
The combination of N. Carruba / Mario Niamatali defeated Crystal Sukra / Seanden David Longe 6-3, 7-5.
