The victorious Tutorial High School celebrates after news of their victory in the Secondary School competition swept across GCC yesterday.
St. Joseph High School won the battle on Wednesday but Tutorial High School won the war yesterday after the final points were tallied in the East Georgetown ‘Champion of Champions’ competition at the GCC ground.
Tutorial High came out overall victors in the Secondary School competition with 593 points, relegating Wednesday’s field events champions, St Joseph High to second place with 551 points from the track and field contests.
The two schools separated themselves from the rest of the field in the 2008 version of the meet; North Georgetown Secondary ended third with 278 points with New Campbellville Secondary in fourth with 198 points.
Queenstown Community High came fifth with 183.5 points while St. Winefride’s School sealed the top five with 87 points. Mercy Wings (85 points), Sophia Special School (73 points) and Josel (33 points) were also in the ‘running’.
Meanwhile, F.E Pollard Primary School edged Comenius Primary to take that instalment of the competition yesterday. F.E Pollard totalled 241 points while Comenius had 236 points for second place at the GCC ground.
Stella Maris Primary School finished third with 203 points whereas Redeemer Primary was fourth with 186 points. St. Gabriel’s Primary rounded off the top five Primary Schools with 173 points.
Ramakrishna (167.5 points), Sophia (76 points), Bel Air (44 points) and J.E Burnham (2 points) were the other schools that registered points. The selection of the District’s athletes for the national competition will commence next week.
