– two cars impounded at Brickdam
An army captain was killed on the spot, at around 22:00 hrs last night, in a hit-and-run accident near his Lot 1033 Aubrey Barker Road, South Ruimveldt home.
Reports indicate that Ancel Semple, 31, was struck down by a car while riding his motorcycle on Aubrey Barker Road.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, but Kaieteur News understands that two cars which eyewitnesses identified as being involved were subsequently impounded at the Brickdam Police Station.
Semple’s firearm holster, minus his 9mm licensed pistol and seven live rounds of ammunition, was recovered from the scene and handed over to the police.
The victim’s father, Cecil Semple, said that his son’s girlfriend was at his home when she heard the impact, and on checking, saw his son lying on the roadway.
Semple was taken to the Georgetown Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. Captain Semple is a former Bishop’s High School student, who completed a one-year course at Sandhurst.
