Detectives probe possible links to Regent Street arms bust
Investigations into last Sunday night’s execution of EPA environment officer Alicia Foster have taken a twist as detectives probe possible links between the now dead woman and a recent arms and ammunition find in Regent Street.
A senior police official last night disclosed that there may be links between Foster and the women who were detained after the bust.
However, he cautioned that it may be too early to point fingers.
“We are just looking at that angle because of some information we received,” the official told this newspaper.
Crime Chief Seelall Persaud had told this newspaper that the investigation will not rule out any possible angle.
Police on Monday took statements from colleagues of the slain Senior Environmental Officer, as they continued to seek a motive for her brutal execution.
But detectives have reportedly made no headway in tracking down Foster’s killers, although there are reports that they are looking for an individual who is known to the victim.
A senior police source had confirmed that detectives questioned several staffers from the Environmental Protection Agency, and are to take further statements from other staffers.
Investigators are also attempting to confirm reports that Foster was threatened about two months ago while investigating an alleged environmental violation by a business entity.
According to a source, detectives are also trying to locate a man who may be able to provide information about Foster’s demise.
Kaieteur News understands that the 26-year-old woman and her fiancé had planned to get married soon.
Foster, a former Bishops’ High School student and university graduate, was gunned down in the driveway of her Lot 78 David Street, Kitty home.
The gunmen escaped with her car, after dumping their victim on the driveway.
Foster’s car, PHH 2263, with all its parts intact, was recovered on Monday near the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Well Road, North Ruimveldt.
Foster was the EPA’s representative on the Board of the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission and the National Water Council.
She had also coordinated activities on the monitoring and closure of Omai Gold Mines Limited, and had also done a considerable amount of work in the forestry and mining sectors.
Meanwhile, detectives are yet to obtain a statement from the dead woman’s sister who was with her at the time of the shooting.
