Three bandits, one of whom was armed with a handgun, relieved hire car driver Safraz Baig of his Toyota AT 212 motorcar at around 21:45 hours on Monday.
The incident occurred at Diamond, East Bank Demerara, where Baig operates his taxi HB 525.
According to reports, Baig was hired by the two men from the Diamond Car Park to go to 19th Street, Diamond.
Along the way he was held up at gunpoint and placed in the trunk of the motorcar.
The bandits then drove the vehicle to Sussex Street, Georgetown, where they released the victim just before they escaped with his white car, which has not yet been recovered.
