Everest Hikers crushed a hapless Shakatan 5-0 to cart off the Banks DIH Night Hockey First Division title in the Banks DIH Night Hockey Competition which ended last Saturday, at the Thirst Park ground.
They were led top victory through strikes from Shane Samuels, Andrew Stuart, Captain Devin Munroe, Alex Gouveia and Robert France.
In the Second Division final, Old Fort reversed the tables by inflicting a 4-1 defeat of Hikers to capture that title. Goal-scorers for Old Fort were Teon Joaquin – 2, Dwight Williams – 1, John Abrams – 1. Andrew Stuart tucked in the lone goal for Everest.
In the Ladies exhibition match between GCC Tigers and Everest Divas, the former won by a 3-1 margin. Brennette Gordon scored first for GCC and Cora Towler equalized for Everest for a 1-1 tie at the half.
GCC Captain Sonia Jardine scored a double in the second half to propel them to an easy win.
Old Fort Second Division team offers Kaieteur Sport a photo opportunity after winning the Second Division title.
Old Fort then beat GCC 1-0 in a Men’s First Division game with Aderemi Simon scoring in the first half.
His first half effort came after he dribbled two GCC defenders, before shooting past goalkeeper Gregory Garraway for the lead.
