Training in earnest kicks off today for the locally based ‘Golden Jaguars’ as Guyana prepares for phase two, group H of the 3rd Digicel Caribbean Championships set for Trinidad and Tobago, November 5 – 9, 2008.
The Carifesta Sports Complex ground is the venue.
Earning their first call up to the senior squad are Buxton United’s defender Devon Dennis and forward Clive Andries.
Andries is the current leading goal scorer in the Mackeson division one league and his team, competing at this level for the first time, is also leading the points standing.
The players will be taken through the paces by national head coach Wayne Dover who will be assisted by Kavin Pearce.
Today’s session will be focused on aerobics, strength along with some technical and tactical work.
The players called are goal keepers; Ronson Williams (Alpha), Shemroy Arthur (Pele) and Keith Fraser (GDF).
Defenders; Kelvin McKenzie, Anthony Harding (Alpha), Devon Dummett, Orlando Gilgeous, Sherwin Cadogan (Sunburst Camptown), Dirk Archer (Pele), Sheik Kamal (GDF), Devon Dennis (Buxton United).
Midfield; Shawn Bishop, Philbert Moffatt, Emerick Williams, Dwayne Jacobs (Alpha), Shavane Seaforth (Bakewell Topp XX), Dwight Peters, Stellon David (GDF), Glenorvan Edmonds (Santos), Travis Grant (Pele), Delon Williams (Fruta Conquerors).
Forwards; Anthony Abrams, Elton Browne (Alpha), Devon Millington (BK Int. Western Tigers), Kevin Beaton (Bakewell Topp XX), Clive Andries (Buxton United), Delroy Deen (BV Triumph United). The morning sessions commence at 06:00hrs while the afternoon sessions will start at 16:00hrs.
