The winners of the recently held Entertainment Source Futsal five-a-side football competition in Linden sponsored by Banks DIH Ltd. were presented with their prizes at a simple ceremony at Barrow’s Lounge and Restaurant in Mackenzie Thursday evening.
Linden’s top club, Bakewell Topp XX emerged winners with Silver Shattas securing the second position while the third place was occupied by Ballweavers.
Marlon Benjamin of Top XX was adjudged the Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Highest goal scorer with a tally of 25 goals in five matches.
There were also prizes for the Most Remarkable Dribble which was won by Morty Ramdehol of Flamingo and the Best goal of the Tournament with Domain Angus of Vasco Club taking home that award.
Tournament promoter Dunstanie Barrow thanked Banks DIH for sponsoring the tournament which attracted 25 teams from the Mining Town. He promised Linden football teams and supporters a much bigger tournament in 2009. The tournament was coordinated by Colin “BL” Aaron.
Banks DIH Communications Manager Troy Peters in brief remarks said that football in Linden was always exciting and promised his company’s support for football in the mining town in the future. Mortimer Stewart, Banks DIH Special Events manager presented the prizes to outstanding teams and players.
