Davendra Samaroo, 30, Alexei Gomes, 41, Steve Singh 20, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old were all placed on $20,000 bail after they appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson, yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrates Court, charged with the unlawful possession of two water pumps, one air converter and a length of electrical cord.
Their lawyer, Patrice Henry, said that his clients are all fishermen from the River View area and the charge is a clear indication that the prosecution does not have sufficient evidence to charge one of the defendants.
Instead, they are claiming that all of the defendants were found with the items, which is “totally untrue”. The defendants are expected to make their next court appearance on November 17.
