Flashback!!! Darren Allen all alone as he crosses the finish line in last years feature 30-lap race.
By Franklin Wilson
He blew away the field in last year’s feature 30-lap race but will Darren Allen, who has not been at his best since, be able to repeat that performance when the Carlton Wheelers Cycle Club brings off their 6th annual Track Meet at the Everest Cricket Club ground.
Like last year also, a number of the big guns will be in the line up and barring any spills as was the case in the last year’s feature, fans can expect an explosive race and a continuation of the rivalry between the leading pedal pushers.
Back to his best now is Tyrone Hamilton and he will again be a serious challenge to the number one competitor this year Alonzo Greaves but one cannot overlook the likes of Lear Nunes, Christopher Holder, Geron Williams, Robin Persaud, Daniel Ramchurejee, Enzo Matthews and Junior Niles.
Raymond Newton who made a successful debut at the veteran level is expected to be fit following a minor accident in the feature race of the AFC sponsored Maxi Pereira and Marlis Archer Memorial meet on eth outer circuit of the National Park last Sunday.
Linden Blackman had ruled the roost last year but once Newton is available, he will be challenged to repeat and will also be challenged by Kennard Lovell and Shameer Baksh among others.
The junior riders are looking forward for another fun filled day, Raymond Perez, Johnathan Fagundes and Jamal Bentley (upright) will all be aiming to be in winner’s row again this year.
Some 29 races for juniors, upright, veterans, juveniles, BMX boys and girls and category 1, 2, 3 and 4 are listed with the first pedaling off at 12:30.
Attractive prizes are up for grabs which would make the rivalry more exciting. The race organisers are extending gratitude to the following sponsors fro their support.
