The historic Ansa McAl Trading, Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club (RHTY&SC) 10/10 cricket competition bowled off in a blaze of action with spectators turning out in their numbers to witness the matches.
Recoding victories were Rose Hall Town Windies Sports Bar, Albion, Port Mourant, Bermine, and Young Warriors, while Police were awarded a walkover from Blairmont who showed up for battle with only five players.
Young Warriors Farouk Hussain’s knock of 66 off just 20 deliveries was the highlight of the first round of matches while there were respective four wicket hauls for national players, Royston Crandon and Devendra Bishu.
At Area ‘H’ Ground: Rose Hall Town Windies Sports Bar defeated Kildonan by 54 runs. Scores; RHTWSB 118-2, Assad Fudadin 45 not out and Renwick Batson 40.
Kildonan 64 all out, Quincy Grimmond 22. Royston Crandon 4-14. Sherwin Murray and Ravi Narine took 2 wickets each for 10 runs. Port Mourant crushed Scottsburg by 8 wickets. Scores; Scottsburg 70-6, Peter Grimes 16. C. Balgobin 2-15.
Port Mourant 74-2 off 8.4 overs, Donald Thakerdeen 26 and Moshin Perkhan 20. Bermine defeated West Berbice by 1 run.
Scores; Bermine 74-7, Devon Clements 17 and Maxie De Jonge 16. West Berbice off-spinner Kris Ramoo 4-8 including a hat-trick.
West Berbice 73-7. Kwesi Sedoc 23. Five batsmen suffered via the run out route. Albion beat Skeldon by 30 runs.
Scores; Albion 95-6, Sewnarine and Ramnarine Chattergoon 20 each. Wazir Hussain 2-21. Skeldon 65-6, Nigel Trotz 22. Leg spinner Devendra Bishu 4-12. At the Canje Ground: Young Warriors thrashed Rose Hall Canje by 10 wickets.
Scores; Rose Hall Canje 94-8, Sasenarine Sukhdeo 38. Richard Ramdeen took 4-15 and Balram Samaroo 3-16. Young Warriors 95-0 off 7 overs. Farouk Hussain 66 (6 sixes & 3 fours), Ramdeen 18. Meanwhile, second round action is set for next Sunday.
