St John’s College has attained an almost unassailable lead after day one of the North Georgetown Zone ‘Champion of Champions’ track competition at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) ground, Bourda.
The zone’s defending champions have amassed a total of 168 points, leaving its nearest rival, Saint Stanislaus College on 68 points with Guyana’s Technical Institute (GTI) rounding off the top three with 65 points.
Winfer Gardens Primary School has also taken a massive lead on 102 points in the Primary School version of the event with St. Andrews Primary in second place on 71 points and St. Margaret’s on 61 points.
Queens College currently trails GTI with 58 points while Brickdam Secondary with 50 points, Christ Church Secondary (35 points) and Kingston Community High (34 points) remain in the reckoning for pole positions.
Richard Ishmael Secondary School and St Mary’s High are currently tied for an eight place on 31 points with the Business School on 28 points for ninth and Bishops High School closing the top ten on 12 points.
Imperial Academy and Guyana’s Educational Trust College are the next two schools on nine and six points respectively; Marian Academy, Monar Institute, Nations and St George’s High are yet to record a point.
Outside of the top three in the Primary School competition, North Georgetown is poised on 55 points with St. Ambrose Primary on 52 points, St Angela’s Primary on 51 points and St Agnes Primary School on 48 points.
The points standing yesterday were given after the completion of 12 finals with the second day of the track competition set to continue today at 9am.
