DEAR EDITOR,
I am much concerned with the fear that has permeated the society.
About two weeks ago it was reported in the print and electronic media, two contrasting incidents.
The first was the Lincoln Lewis affair, where three men unknown to the complainant attempted to gain entry into his home.
The second was the alleged plan to assassinate Mark Benschop.
Further these incidents were not reported to the police because both parties claim not to have any trust in the Guyana Police Force.
This is bad news because the police are the ones to protect citizens. I would deal with the latter, because this is an individual who was unjustly and undeservedly incarcerated for a few years until he received a Presidential pardon.
Mark has returned to society and has demonstrated that he is a man of mettle who can withstand any adversity.
I, like so many persons, have seen the resoluteness of this son and even envy him for this rare quality. He continued where he left off, and has done so much for the poor and indigent.
One has to admire instead of being envious. The only person who sought to empower the underprivileged without conditions is Mark. His pleasant personality has enabled him to communicate with even those who do not find favour with him.
Mark has to remain focused and not be distracted by the spineless cowards, because Almighty God is the best planner, who knows their evil thoughts before it is unraveled. Why plan to kill Mark?
I do hope that a thorough investigation is made into both complaints, and that the confidence which once existed in the Guyana Police Force be restored.
