DEAR EDITOR,
Our political parties have been talking about power sharing, since way back in the past in order to bring peace, unity and progress to our country, Guyana. But this remains a dormant proposition.
Guyana is over spilling with crucial issues, though our Administration is doing its utmost to solve them.
Power sharing could be the potential solution to most of our problems, because it is often said that two heads are better than one.
Clearly speaking, I do not expressly mean the heads of only the two major political parties; but the heads of the smaller parties because they have good ideas, policies, principles, etc. Apparently Zimbabwe has shown an example of power sharing and its good effects.
The two major parties and the smallest one have united in a power sharing deal, and that country is on the move again.
The gloom and depression have begun to fade and hope is being restored. Our cursing, fault finding, scape goating, filibustering, protests and demonstrations have failed to solve our crucial and perpetual issues.
One People, One Nation, and One Destiny is our old motto, and power sharing could be an applicable and workable solution.
George Carrington
