Number 71 pacer Karamchand Roopraj wreaked Number 70 MYO with a sensational six-over spell to grab 9-24, while Jason Itwaru scored 64 and captured 5-36 to spur Fighting Marines to victory against Number 55 Mayflower in the opening round of the inaugural Demerara Bank second Division 40-Over Cricket competition organized by the Berbice Cricket Board of Control for teams in the Upper and Central Corentyne areas.
Roopraj became the first bowler to grab nine wickets in an innings since second division was introduced in Berbice and his explosive spell helped to dismiss MYO for 63.
Number 71 had earlier made 169 with Nazim Mohamed hitting an even half-century although Niazi Khan snatched 5-18 in a losing effort.
And Fighting Marines made 236/6 from their allotted 40 overs with Itwaru hitting 13 fours and two sixes before he fell when eight short of his century. Itwaru then went to work with the ball as Mayflower crashed to 82 all out.
Lakeram Latchman, Ryan Ramdass, Virvasha Rambharry and Deewan Singh were the other batsmen to nitch up first round fifties.
