Lodge bandits nabbed at C’tyne beach…Beaten victim dies
Sookdeo Mootoo, the Number 74 Village, Corentyne resident who was beaten with a handgun during a botched robbery last Tuesday, succumbed to his injuries yesterday.

Mootoo was reportedly hospitalised in a semi-conscious condition after being struck on the head.
Two suspects from Lodge in Georgetown were detained, and have since been charged with armed robbery. Police said they may also be charged for murder if the autopsy, to be conducted today, shows that he died as a result of the blows that the robbers inflicted.
According to reports, Mootoo and his wife were in their yard at Number 74 Village, Corentyne, at around 05:00 hrs on Tuesday, when three men, who were armed with a handgun, pounced on them.
The robber with the handgun struck Mootoo on the head, but the gang escaped empty-handed after Mootoo’s wife raised an alarm.
Two suspects were eventually apprehended in a bushy area near the Scottsburg Beach by members of the Rampoor Community Policing Group.

The men reportedly claimed that they were from Princes Street, Lodge and Hill Street, Lodge.
A pistol with a solitary round and masks were recovered from the suspects.
A third bandit, who is reportedly from Berbice, remains at large.
