Fire of unknown origin, completely destroyed a wooden and concrete structure at Grant St, Phoenix Park, in the lower Pomeroon area yesterday.
The house which is located about 20 miles from Charity, belonged to miner Trevor Stoll.
According to reports reaching Kaieteur News, the man’s reputed wife and children all went to church leaving the couple’s 14-year-old son at home.
The blaze is believed to have started at around 4:00pm, when neighbours saw smoke coming from the house.
The neighbours quickly raised an alarm and formed a bucket brigade. This proved futile, as the building was completely destroyed.
The residents did manage to pull the teen from the burning building, and they also were successful in saving another home that was in close proximity.
The adjacent building which was scorched, belonged to another family member, Shermon Stoll. The owner of the razed home, Trevor Stoll, estimated millions in damages.
