Clayton Hutson, for whom a wanted bulletin was posted, was yesterday released from police custody after posting $30,000 station bail.
And yesterday, Hutson’s attorney-at-law, Joseph Harmon, withdrew the habeas corpus writ which was filed on Friday in the High Court. According to Harmon, the writ was withdrawn after he received a call from his client, at some time around 9:30 hours, stating that he was released on bail.
The writ was scheduled for a hearing yesterday before Justice Roxanne George-Wiltshire. However, since Hutson was released, his attorney was only left to withdraw the writ.
In the meantime, Harmon said, his client has been told to report back to the Criminal Investigations Department headquarters on Monday.
As it relates to the Interpol Red Notice which has been reportedly issued for Hutson, Harmon has not yet been able to confirm this.
Meanwhile, Frankie Ross, for whom a wanted bulletin was issued in connection with the illegal importation of arms and ammunition, remains at large. The other man, Trinidadian Joseph Aboud, who turned himself over to the police on Tuesday, was released on Friday after a habeas corpus writ was filed on his behalf.
Just over one week ago, the Guyana Police Force issued wanted bulletins for Aboud, Hutson and Frankie Ross in connection with the illegal importation of firearms and ammunition.
The weapons were discovered a few days earlier by members of the Joint Services in a yard on Regent Street. Following the discovery, three women were arrested and subsequently released on station bail.
