Sparwin defeated Ravens by 59 runs to win the Annual Prem Harrinarine Memorial cricket match played at the Sparta ground in North Essequibo last Sunday.
In a match which was reduced to 35 overs due to early morning showers, Ravens won the toss and invited Sparwin to take first strike.
Led by an attacking half century (52) from Pooran Shivpersaud and a run a ball 46 from Navin Bahadur Sparwin managed 179-9 off their allotted 35 overs.
Laxmikant Narine took 3-24 off 7 overs and Takur Samlall 2-19 off 4 overs for Ravens who in reply never really threatened to overhaul the score, ending on 120-8 when their overs expired.
Kieron Sewnarine top scored with 28 while Thakur Samlall contributed 22. Ramesh Narine and Daniram Lall took two wickets apiece for 29 and 31 runs respectively.
Pooran Shivpersaud was adjudged the man of the match and the best batsman in the game while the best bowler award went to Laxmikan Narine. The annual fixture is played in memory of the late Prem Harrinarine, a former member of the Sparwin Sports Club.
