The 2008 New Building Society Challenge (NBS) 2nd division 40 over cricket competition, organized by the Berbice Cricket Board of Control for teams in the Ancient County, is continuing apace.
In latest play, Seon Crandon of Gibralter/Courtland became the third centurion of the competition when he hit a blistering 104 which was decorated with 8 fours and 6 sixes to lead his side to 303 off 38 overs.
Crandon, who is the cousin of national cricketers Esuan and Royston Crandon was well supported by Oliver Giddings who hit 47, and another Crandon sibling, Dwain backing up with 37.
In response, Number One Road were routed for a meager 67 to lose by a whopping 236 runs.
The main destroyer with the ball for Gibralter/Courtland was 17 year-old George Hughes who grabbed 5-19 from 6.3 overs. John Percival backed up well with 3-17 from 5 overs.
Overwinning Bible Church opening pacer Carl Peters returned figures of 5-46 as Sisters were sent packing for 82 and in response opening batters Shawn Baksh 48 and Geeraish Deejes 25 saw them to victory (84) without losing a wicket off 8.2 overs.
Elsewhere in the competition, there were 5 wicket hauls for Seon Phillips of Defenders and Fazal Hira of Golden Fleece Invaders, whilst half centuries were recorded by Oneal Amsterdam representing Showtime of Baracara, Canje Creek and national under 15 batsman Jamally Odle of Tucber Park.
