Opener German Trotman hit a fine century as his team United Brothers defeated Young Warriors by 89 runs as the Essequibo leg of the Memorex / Guyana Softball League 15 overs cricket competition continued last Sunday on the Essequibo Coast.
The match which was contested at Perservance saw Trotman hitting 142 and got solid support from Shannon Jagmohan who stroked 76 as United Brothers piled up 239 for3 off their allotted 15 overs.
Haseeb Mohamed took 2-37 for Young Warriors who were limited to 150-6 off their 15. Kalid Baksh led with 54 and Rishaan Kamar 23. Gopaul Deen and Anil Durga were the pick of the United Brothers with two wickets each.
In the other matches Columbia and Die Hard got walk overs from Jaguars and Uprising respectively while Electronics defeated Young Guns while Reliance got the better of Richmond Youths.
The competition will continue on October 12.
Meanwhile the Essequibo Technical Institute Stake Holders Association will stage a 15 overs softball knockout cricket competition tomorrow. Teams interested in participating can make contact with Baney Persaud on Telephone # 618-8484.
