The Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club’s (RHTY&SC) Cricket Development committee and Ansa Mc al Trading have teamed up to bring off Guyana’s first 10 / 10 knock-out cricket tournament which is expected to bowl off next Wednesday with six matches at the three venues .
The competition will be the first of its kind held in Guyana involving first division clubs and will attract the top 12 in the Ancient County of Berbice.
Two games will be played each day with the first bowling off at 12:30hrs and the other at 15:00hrs. The winning team would pocket $100,000.in cash and an equal amount in educational and hygiene kits. The losing finalist will receive $50,000 cash and a similar amount in hygiene and educational kits.
Incentives are also at stake for the losing teams in the semi finals, they will collect $30,000 (cash and kind). The man of the match of the finals will earn 10,000 and a trophy.
In match set for next Wednesday, Young Warriors will clash with Rose Hall Canje at the Canje ground to be followed by a match up between Police and Blairmont.
Over at the Albion ground, West Berbice face Bermine with the home team Albion, battling Skeldon. Rose Hall Town Windies Sports Bar (RHTWSB) plays Kildonan at the Area H ground in the opening encounter to be followed by the Port Mourant / Scotsburg game.
All the teams will be at full strength and among the players expected to feature for RHTWSB are Assad Fudadin, Andre Percival, Royston and Esuan Crandon.
Leading Albion’s quest for the top prize are Narsingh Deonarine, Sewnarine Chattergoon, Devendra Bishu and Versammy Permaul while the Young Warrior’s line up will include Gajannand Singh, Paul Wintz, Richard Ramdeen and Seon Hetymeter. Port Mourant’s challenge will be led by Hoomchand Pooran, Rajiv Ivan and Mahendra Nagamootoo.
RHTY&SC Secretary / CEO Hilbert Foster stated that the tournament is part of the club’s endeavor to bring back fans to cricket grounds and with two matches slated for each venue they would be treated to exciting action.
This 10 / 10 tournament is the fourth major cricket tournament organised by the club in 2008 coming on the heals of the Busta Champion of champions, Sprite 20 / 20 and the Kool Kidz 20 / 20 Inter Secondary School Cup.
