RHT Bakewell register easy wins

Hostile and aggressive fast bowling by former Guyana Under 15 and under 19 fast bowler Shevon Marks led his team Rose Hall Town Bakewell A to a crushing ten wicket win over Nigg in their third round match of the NBS second division tournament in Berbice.

Marks returned the remarkable figures of 8-29 off eight overs as Nigg were bundled out for 62 off 16 overs after they were asked to bat first on a placid pitch at the Area H ground.

Brian Narine led the batting with 17 as no other batsman had an answer to the pace of Marks, extras contributed a healthy 16. Off spinner Mehandra Srikissoon supported with 2 for 8.

In reply Berbice under 19 opener Micheal Felix and former Berbice under 19 opener Michael Rengasmi hit off the required runs in eight overs with Felix hitting 36 and Rengasmi 22, RHT Bakewell ending on 65 without loss to win by 10 wickets.

At the Warren Cricket ground, Rose Hall Town Bakewell B which is a development team (comprising of 8 under 15 players (male) and 2 females) defeated Kendall Union by 27 runs due to fine spin bowling by 15 year old off spinner Mark Fernandes and 13 year-old leg spinner Shawn Pereira.

Batting first after winning the toss RHT Bakewell B reached 125-8 off their allotted 35 overs on a heavily grassed outfield. Moonish Singh top scored with an attractive 36 while Stephen Lewis and Dominic Rickey supported with 20 each.

Trenton Garnett took 3-20 for Kendall Union who found the spin duo of Fernandes and Periera too much to handle as they were bowled out for 98 in 29 overs.

Fernandes grabbed 5-23 off eight overs and Pereira took 4-14 off 7. Only Suresh Ramlochan 28 and Danny Baker 17 offered any resistance with the bat.
