Ranks of a police mobile patrol on the East Coast of Demerara have recovered the shell of an AT 192 Toyota Carina which was stolen from its owner three weeks ago. The car, PJJ 6645, which was stripped of its engine and other major parts, was discovered near the Melanie Damishana Seawall on Monday.
This newspaper understands that the owner of the car, Brian Moore Brown, of Bagotville, West Bank Demerara, had parked his vehicle in front of his yard. A few hours later he discovered it missing and reported the matter to the police at La Grange. Since then he has been looking for the vehicle.
Police said that a mobile patrol unit operating in the Melanie Damishana area observed the vandalized car and immediately towed it to the Vigilance Police Station.
The owner was subsequently contacted. But one look at what is left of his car plunged him into despair.
While investigators have dusted the car for fingerprints, no one has so far been arrested.
