Defending champions, Headquarters took a commanding lead after the completion of nine finals yesterday when the 59th Annual Guyana Police Force Track and Field championships continued at the Eve Leary ground.
After the completion of those finals and the ones from Tuesday’s competition, Police Headquarters were ahead on 161.5 points while ‘A’ and Country Divisions sealed the top three places with 124.5 and 53 points respectively.
‘B’ Division and Presidential Guards were lagging behind on 41 and 2 points in that order. The competition will take a rest today and return on Friday for all the track finals including the invitational events.
Meanwhile, in the ‘A’ Class country competition, Guyana is coasting in front on 143 points while Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados amassed 54 and 16 points from the completed finals.
Results from yesterday’s finals: Natasha Alder won the female javelin throw with a best throw of 36.95m
with Trinidad’s Eudhenia Huggins took second with 32.22m and Latoya Rodney third with 29.88m.
Male 5000m: Larry Josiah (17:37.2), Damian Blackman (18:49.1) and Desmond Chin (19:02.4)
Female Triple Jump: Donna Ferguson (9.08m), Delisa Brown (8.87m) and Latoya Rodney (8.80m).
Male Javelin ‘A’ Class: Larry Josiah (41.79m), Simon Francois (25.36) and Lynden Wilson (24.95m).
Police Male Triple Jump: Byron David (12.05), Jason Critchlow (11.71m) and Troy Williams (11.40m).
Male Javelin ‘B’ Class: Adrian Massiah (47.71m), Donald Payne (46.53m) and Michael Pollydore (44.27m).
Male 800m (Youth Club Members): Dennis Horatio, Kelvin Ceres and Kevin Bailey in that order. No times were supplied for this event.
Female 800m (Youth Club Members): Malyika Francois, Kishana Prince and Kesha Kensinally in that order. No times were supplied for this event.
Male 200m (Youth Club Members): O. Stewart (22.9), Derwin Eastman (23.2) and Devon King (23.5).
Female 200m (Youth Club Members): T. Carlo, Nadine Rodrigues and S Mentore. No times were supplied for this event.
