Georgetown Mayor Hamilton Green paid a visit to the four boxers in training to represent Guyana at the Commonwealth Youth Games set for India.

The boxers are preparing at the Harpy Eagles Gym in Albouystown and the Mayor expressed surprise at the condition in which the young fighters train. The gym is equipped with a wooden floor and had no corners, which the Mayor made note of.
Mayor Green commended the Harpy Eagles gym members for providing the facility for the boxers to train and the effort the fighters and coaches are making to whip them into top shape.
He made the suggestion that he will speak to the persons managing the Andrew ‘Sixhead’ Gym also in Albouystown, which was built by government, for future teams to train. Mayor Green noted that this facility is well equipped and should be used to prepare amateur boxers to represent Guyana without a cost attached.
Mr Green wished the boxers and coaches, noting the Table Tennis team, well and that their journey to India would be a successful one and they return to Guyana as winners.
The contingent leaves Guyana on October 8 and arrives in India the next day and is due to return on October 21.
