DEAR EDITOR,
I had the opportunity to see CARIFESTA 2008, at the Anna Regina Centre Ground, on Saturday the 23rd August.
The contingents were from Montserrat, Trinidad and Tobago and also our own Essequibo.
The performance was real wonderful and most exciting for me; it was the first time
I witnessed what is CARIFESTA and I am now 71.
I am actually certain that the thousands of people will that were there would want to say the same thing as well. I can vividly remember that CARIFESTA was held in Guyana in the year 1972, only in Georgetown, but not in Essequibo.
On behalf of the people in Essequibo and myself, thanks to our President and also the police. They have done well!!!
