The 2008 New Building Society Challenge Second Division 40-over Cricket Competition continued recently.
Highlighting the latest matches was the outstanding allround performance of Berbice Under-19 cricketer Krishnadat Ramoo of Bush Lot Sports Complex.
He firstly scored 112 (5 fours 1 six) to see Bush Lot reach 322 for 8 in their allotted 40 overs and then came back with the ball, bowling off spin, to take 3 wickets for 10 runs from 7 over which included 4 maidens to help bowl out Union for 90, giving his team a 232 run victory.
Salim Khan blasted 7 fours and 5 sixes in his score of 93 which, together with Safraz Ali’s 56 (5 fours and 4 sixes), saw No. 70 M.Y.O to a formidable 278 for 6 in 35 overs against No. 70 Young Blood. His teammates, pacers Ahmad Khan with 5 for 21 from 5 overs and Imran Khan 3 for 7 from 5 overs then destroyed No. 70 Young Blood for a paltry 68 in their reply.
No. 70 Lalman’s two opening pacers Omesh Khemraj with 4 for 8 from 7 overs and Chris Bollers with 4 for 20 from 7.4 overs skittled out No. 65 Original for a paltry 49 to set up a 10 wicket victory.
Other batsmen registering half centuries were Lakeram Latchman of No. 73 Young Warriors, Gobin Roopram of No. 72 All Star, Ishwar Baksh and Azzarudin Khan, both of John’s, as well as Govind Narine of Bloomfield.
In scores from the matches played: At Bush Lot in West Berbice, Bush Lot Sports Complex beat Union by 232 runs. Bush Lot SC 322 for 8 in 40 overs (Krishnadat Ramoo 112, Shafeik Sattar 45, Shameer Rahim 30, Gileon Belle 2 for 43). Union: 90 in 27 overs (Krishnadat Ramoo 3 for 10, Shafeik Sattar 2 for 12).
At No. 70, No. 70 M.Y.O beat No. 70 Young Blood by 210 runs. No. 70 M.Y.O – 278 for 6 in 35 overs (Salim Khan 93, Safraz Ally 56, Jamal Assad 29, Shiraz Khan 2 for 47). No. 70 Young Blood 68 in 11 overs (Ahmad Khan, Imran Khan 3 for 7).
At No. 70, No. 70 Lalman beat No. 65 Original by 10 wickets. No. 65 Original 49 in 14.4 overs (Omesh Khemraj 4 for 8, Chris Bollers 4 for 20). No. 70 Lalman 50 without loss in 5.2 overs (Intiaz Alladin 26 n.o).
At John’s in Port Mourant, John’s beat Bloomfield by 41 runs. John’s; 244 in 36.5 overs (Ishwar Baksh 62, Azzarudin Khan 53, Pavindra Anganoo 32, Totaram Nandlall 4 for 43, Vinod Beharry 2 for 34, Chandradat Gobin 2 for 40. Bloomfield 203 in 35.4 overs (Govind Narine 73, Jairam Budhoo 46, Vinod Samaroo 4 for 24, Eon Kanchan 2 for 14).
At No. 73, No. 73 Young Warriors beat No. 72 All Star by 9 wickets. No. 72 All Star 139 in 29 overs (Gobin Roopram 60 n.o, Nityalall Durgalall 34, Latchman Nakhul 4 for 23, Sewnarine Dallu 2 for 14) No. 73 Young Warriors 140 for 1 in 21 overs (Lakeram Latchman 72 n.o, Latchman Nakhul 27).
At Rose Hall in Canje, Rose Hall Community Centre beat Young Warriors by 9 runs.
