The Ministry of Education has received $19.8 million from the Government for the procurement of furniture to be used at the new Mahaica Secondary School.
This is according to Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roger Luncheon, who recently noted that Cabinet also gave its no-objection for a contract of $21.09 million, which was awarded to the agriculture sector for the rehabilitation and extension of the laboratory at the National Agricultural Research Institute (NARI).
Monies were also approved for the construction of irrigation control structures at Parika, on the East Bank of Essequibo, to the tune of $20.1 million.
Cabinet also gave its no-objection for the construction of a sluice at outfall channels in Cozier, Region Two, a contract to the tune of $25.6 million.
The Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) was also awarded $31.7 million for the commencement of construction of the Agricola Main.
In the marine sector of the Public Works Ministry, $53.1 million was awarded to the Transport and Harbours Department for the docking of motor vehicle Kimbia, while Cabinet gave its no-objection for emergency repairs to the engine and machinery of MV Steve N at a cost of $53 million.
Meanwhile, the finance administration received $22.1 million for the procurement of computers and hardware social statistics and policy analysis project by the Stats Bureau.
