Lall, Raghubansie hit centuries in last weekend’s

contest

Jaianand Lall and Parashuntarm Raghubansie hit contrasting centuries as the Essequibo leg of the Memorex 15 overs Guyana Softball League cricket continued last Sunday on the Essequibo Coast.

At Cullen, the host went down to Young Warriors by 7 wickets. Lall hit an unbeaten 114 and got support from Tameshwar Singh (60 n o) as Cullen made 223 for 1 off their allotted 15 overs.

Parashuntarm Raghubansie then fashioned a fine 110 as his team Young Warriors overhauled the target in 13 overs for the lost of 3 wickets. Aaron Tribuwan also helped with 56 n.o.

At Perseverance, Young Guns defeated Hibernia by 4 wickets. Hibernia batted first and made 95 all out in 11.3 overs.

Hemchand Ramkumar top scored with 56 as Bhola Dyal 4 – 19 and Ramnarine Shirbarran 3 – 26 did the damage with the ball for Young Guns who responded with 97 for 6 in 7 overs.

Dineshwar Dyal scored 54 while Harrinauth Ramkumar took 3 – 24 and Mohandas Ramnauth 2 – 10 in a losing cause for Hibernia.

In other matches played, Die Hard got the better of Richmond youths by 8 wickets, Reliance overcame Uprising by 14 runs, United Brothers gained a walk over from Jaguars and Airy Hall tied with Columbia.

Scores: At Perseverance – Richmond youths 112 – 9 in 15 overs (Narendra Narine 40, Sugrim Ahiram 28, Devindra Sookhai 3 – 12, Imtiaz Dat 3 – 19) lost to Die Hard 124 – 2 in 10 overs (Devin Narine 50, Rovin Chand 32 n.o., Rajesh Hardat 2 – 21).

At Richmond – Reliance 112 all out 15 overs (Dhaniram Lall 28, Tribuwan Roopnarine 2 – 18, Rawl Reid 2 – 21) beat Uprising 98 all out in 14 overs (Thakur Samlall 29, Rovindra Parsram 3 – 11).

At Airy Hall, the home team hit 127 all out in 14.3 overs. (Navin Khan 25, Roshan Khan 18, Suraj Singh 3 – 27, Rameez Mohamed 2 – 19) Tied with Columbia 127 all out in 14.3 overs (Abid Ali 34, Ravindra Ramoutar 28, Amir Khan 3 -31, Wajib Ali 3 – 37).

The competition continues on Sunday with the following matches. In zone A – Young Warriors play United Brothers @Cullen – Cullen take on Airy Hall @ Cullen and Columbia face off with Jaguars @ Perseverance and in Zone B, Richmond Youths will do battle with Reliance @ Richmond, while Electronics clash with Young Guns @ Perseverance and Die Hard take on Uprising at Perseverance.
