GT&T’s Deputy General Manager (Public Communication), Terence Holder (right) makes the presentation to Cleveland Forde.
GT&T is facilitating the participation of champion middle and long distance athlete, Cleveland Forde in an international 10K Road Race next weekend in Antigua.
The race, along with a Fun Walk, is part of the birthday celebrations of the Prime Minister of Antigua, Mr. Baldwin Spencer, and has been organized by a group ‘Together We can, Together We Try’ which has, through the Athletic Association of Guyana, invited outstanding Guyanese athletes to participate in the October 5 event.
Formally handing over the financial support yesterday, Deputy General Manager (Public Communication), Mr. Terence Holder indicated that GT&T was extremely proud of its record of promoting the efforts of talented young Guyanese sportsmen and sportswomen.
He expressed the hope that Forde would wear Guyana’s colours proudly and wished him great success for the rest of the year and for 2009.
Forde, in his response, explained that while he was looking forward to participating and to flying the Golden Arrowhead proudly in the 10K in Antigua, his intention in future was to concentrate on the track and on the shorter 1500m and 5000m races.
