Theophilus King, called ‘Blue,’ a farmer of Shirley Field Ridley Squatting Area, has been charged with the murder of West Ruimveldt Internet café owner Desmond Davis.
King yesterday made his appearance before acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, and was not required to plead.
On Monday, September 22, King reportedly killed Davis. He was unrepresented when he made his initial court appearance, and he told the court that he is the father of a nine-year-old child, and he lives with his reputed wife.
When asked whether he had anything to say about the charge, he declined.
He was remanded, and is expected to make his next court appearance on October 17.
Last Monday evening, 38-year-old Desmond Davis was found lying in a pool of blood in an alleyway a short distance from his 251 West Ruimveldt home.
Two days after the killing, King turned himself in at the East La Penitence Police Station, and was subsequently taken to the East Ruimveldt Outpost, where he was detained.
A police source had said that King sustained several chop wounds about his body during an altercation with the now dead Davis.
An eyewitness had also said that Davis was the aggressor in the incident which left him dead.
King bore signs of injury when he appeared in court yesterday. The accused had chop wounds about his head and hands.
