Five days after its discovery in a clump of bushes in the St. Philip’s Green, investigators are still to determine the identity of the body of a man as well as the cause of death.
The body was discovered last Sunday lying face down not far from the entrance of the institute for the blind.
The decomposing body has been lying in the Le Repentir Mortuary compound awaiting a post mortem examination.
A senior police officer told this newspaper that the force has been seeking the services of a pathologist to perform the post mortem but has so far been unsuccessful.
Investigators have not ruled out murder and believe that the man met his demise at the hands of persons who frequent the area.
They believe that the man might have been involved in a sexual transaction with a lady of the night shortly before his demise.
A regular in the area had told this newspaper that the man was seen on a few occasions with commercial sex workers in close proximity to where his body was discovered.
It is believed that he may have been lured to the area and robbed and beaten to death.
The police say no one has come forward with a missing person’s report.
