Three women are in police custody following the discovery of three weapons including an AK-47 assault rifle during a search conducted on a house at 120 Regent Street, Bourda, on Wednesday.
Apart from the AK-47, with its serial number filed off, the Joint Services team also found one Mosberg shotgun, an Intratec nine mm pistol with silencer, several magazines and an assortment of several caliber magazines.
They also found a green camouflage water bottle and a green canvas pouch.
A police press release stated that at about 18:30 hours on the said day, the ranks acting on information went to the house to conduct a search.
This newspaper understands that the items were found in a fiberglass barrel in an alleyway next to the house that was searched.

The police could not say if the weapons are linked to the continuing investigations into the remnants of the gang.
Investigations are continuing to determine the origin of the weapons and if they were used in the commission of any criminal activity.
